The latest ranking of FTTH developments in Europe.

The FTTH Council Europe organization promotes FTTH technology (Fiber To The Home) in order to effectively increase the access of people to high-speed fiber-optic networks throughout Europe. At about one-year intervals it publishes a detailed report on the development of the infrastructure in individual European countries. To get to the general statement, a given country must reach a minimum level of 1% of households connected to the fiber optic network. The latest ranking for the first time included Great Britain, in which, according to estimates, direct access to the fiber-optic network (FTTH) has 1.3% of households.

The most interesting facts resulting from the data contained in the publication:
  • 21% increase in the number of households connected to FTTH/B in Europe
  • The Spaniards and the French have connected the largest numbers of new subscribers, 1 858 743 and 1 480 220, respectively
  • Russia is a leader in the number of users connected to the fiber-optic network
  • Italy can boast with the highest percentage increase of the connections: 43%.

Compression connectors in S/MATV systems.

F-type connectors are used for making connections in antenna systems based on coaxial cables with 75 Ω impedance. They are employed in terrestrial TV, SAT TV, and CATV installations, and in some CCTV systems. The connectors are available in straight and angled versions. Their design and quality have a direct impact on the reliability, stability and performance of the connections - signal loss and impedance matching. The highest quality MASTER compression connectors ensure long-term and reliable operation in even the harshest conditions.
Appropriate design and excellent precision ensure easy installation of the connectors. Precise thread eliminates problems with screwing the connectors on sockets, which can happen with other plugs. The compression method of installation on cables provides high mechanical strength, tightness and stability over time. The straight connectors should be compressed with the E80075 universal compression tool, and the angle connectors with the E80078 tool.

A summary of the Spring 2019 training session.

The first training took place on February 21, the last on April 4. We have trained 460 installers on 27 courses in 12 cities: Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw, Łódź, Lublin, Sandomierz, Kielce, Częstochowa, Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków and Rzeszów. The trainings covered 4 topics:
  • SMATV systems based on single-cable TERRA dSCR multiswitches.
  • Hikvision HD-TVI and IP CCTV solutions.
  • Designing and configuring IP networks in buildings. TP-link manageable switches and fiber-optic devices.
  • Signal Fire fusion splices – fiber optic splicing.
Each training had a practical part. During the training activities conducted by engineers from the DIPOL Technical Department, the participants could use the new knowledge in practice. They received diplomas confirming the acquired skills.

AcuSense technology in Hikvision EasyIP 4.0 devices.

DIPOL offers DS-2CD2126G1-I K00413, DS-2CD2T46G1-2I K04521 cameras and DS-7616NXI-I2/4S K22153 NVR with AcuSense technology based on Hikvision Deep Learning Algorithms. This technology introduces a new approach in monitoring systems, focused on efficient detection of threatening events with minimizing the number of false alarms. Thanks to the proper recognition, the system can filter out even 90% of events that would trigger false alarms, which significantly increases the accuracy and effectiveness of alerting and contributes to lowering the workload of the operator(s) and costs of sending intervention groups.
Currently, the use of this functionality is possible for VCA events such as crossing virtual lines and/or encroaching on intrusion-protected areas. Cameras with AcuSense technology can be connected to any channels and are fully supported. Additional filters of false alarms are available in four channels of the NVR, dedicated for cameras without AcuSense technology. They can classify objects according to human figures and vehicle shapes.

Network switches for difficult environmental conditions.

ULTIPOWER PoE switches enable data transmission at rates of 10/100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps. Their RJ45 ports support auto-negotiation and Power over Ethernet (PoE) functions. The devices automatically discover an PD (Power Device) compliant with IEEE 802.3af standard and supply power to it. This way, it is easy to power network devices located in places without access to AC power lines, such as access points, IP cameras, IP phones etc. The switches have been equipped with optical converters or SFP slots for installing modules changing the transmission medium to fiber.
ULTIPOWER industrial switches are capable of reliable operation in harsh environmental conditions typical for many industries, like increased dust levels, high or low temperature, high humidity. Such switches should also be mounted in hermetic enclosures installed on poles or other structures located outdoors. The ULTIPOWER switches are equipped with Ethernet ports (Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet, depending on the model) for connecting IP cameras, computers etc.
The industrial switches are protected by housings with IP40 ingress protection rating (against solid foreign objects greater than 1 mm in diameter). All the Ethernet PoE ports can power the connected devices (after supplying the switch with 48 VDC). Each of the industrial switches has been equipped with optical module or SFP slot for placing a SFP module converting the transmission medium to fiber.

Application scope of iVMS-4200 Lite.

Hikvision devices can be managed by free iVMS-4200 software. The camp any also has developed a lighter iVMS-4200 Lite version of the software with decrease number of functions and lower system requirements for the workstation (reduced CPU and RAM load, faster startup). This version is intended for small installations in facilities such as apartments, small shops and offices. It implements basic CMS functions for CCTV systems (no support for other systems):
  • live preview of up to 64 cameras with layout configuration and automatic restoration of the latest layout on the app startup
  • control of PTZ cameras,
  • playback of recordings from up to 16 cameras,
  • download of recordings,
  • support for P2P Hik-Connect.

RACK adapter for media converters.

The ULTIMODE L5215 19-inch RACK adapter is designed for housing ULTIMODE media converters and placing them in a 19" RACK cabinet. It also provides power supply for up to 14 units. The housing is fully compliant to 19" RACK standard. Due to double power supply (redundancy) and forced ventilation (fans), the adapter ensures trouble-free continuous work of the media converters.
Redundant power supplies are a reliable solution for applications that require continuous operation. Each of the power supplies can be replaced without interrupting operation of the media converters (power sharing). Damage to the power supply is indicated by the LED located on the panel and by an audible alarm. Each slot is equipped with individual power connector, so any media converter can be changed without interrupting operation of the rest of the system.
The installation of multiple media converters takes several minutes. Just screw on the plate for fixing the media converter, and then place the converter in the adapter. The adapter is compatible with all media converters of ULTIMODE series.
