A new, better 3D printing method is coming.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, have developed a new 3D printing technology. According to the team taking part in the research, it is a step towards mass personalization of items such as prostheses and running shoes. Traditional 3D printers create objects layer by layer, which results in the effect of irregularities on the edges of the printouts. Furthermore, when creating complex shapes such as arches, it is necessary to print additional supports for the printed elements. "Replicator" provides a completely new approach to 3D printing. The device works like an "inverted" computer tomograph. It scans the 3D exemplar, taking a series of 2D photos that are beamed by a projector onto rotating transparent cylinder filled with light-sensitive acrylate (synthetic resin). After absorbing the right amount of light, the resin turns into a solid, creating a 3D copy of the original object. This process allows for creating components that surround other objects. The printouts created with this method have a smoother surface than those made by the traditional 3D printing means. Another advantage is that there is virtually no waste, and the unhardened resin is 100% reusable. Currently, the scientists are able to print items up to 10 cm in size. One of the creators of the replicator pointed out that this is the first case where a 3D print is created as a whole rather than layer by layer.
New family of passive radial multiswitches - Signal MRP.
The new family of Signal multiswitches enables the implementation of antenna systems for reception of satellite and terrestrial TV and radio signals in single-family houses as well as small residential and office buildings. The multiswitches are designed to work indoors. Due to star topology, all cables deployed to outlets in the antenna system go from a central node (from a single multiswitch or a group of them). A very high isolation among outputs eliminates the risk of crosstalk between bands and polarizations. The built-in cable characteristics equalization function can compensate the influence of cable attenuation that increases with frequency and cable length. The multiswitches have 12 VDC switch in the terrestrial path. When a pre/amplifier is to be powered via the signal cable, the switch has to be set to "12 V ON" position. In the example above, the terrestrial antenna set consists of A2670, A0710, and A0221 antennas (this set of FM, VHF and UHF antennas can be modified according to the needs). The TERRA MA080L (FM-VHFIII-UHF) R82022 outdoor antenna amplifier has 3 inputs: FM (88-108 MHz), VHF (174-230 MHz), and UHF (470-790 MHz). Each of the paths provides independent gain adjustment. The UHF path has built-in LTE 800 filter.
What does 1080p Lite recording mode mean?
Some DVRs designed for use with modern analog cameras provide 1080p Lite recording mode (common names of the mode are also 1080L or 1080N). The mode can be available both in DVRs not supporting the Full HD 1080p recording resolution and in those supporting it, but only at limited frame rate. In the 1080p Lite recording mode the surveillance video is recorded in a non-standard resolution of 960x1080 pixels at 25 fps. It is useful when the higher recording speed at the highest possible resolution (taking into account the specifications of the DVR) is the most important demand.Comparison of the 1080 Lite and typical image resolutions used in CCTV:
1080p (1920 x 1080 px) and 720p (1280 x 720 px)
1080p (1920 x 1080 px) and 720p (1280 x 720 px)
The comparison above shows that the 1080p Lite mode brings half as much information as 1080p, and in this respect it is similar to 720p. It should also be taken into account that the recording format is close to 1:1, not typical for currently used displays. Displaying the image in such an aspect ratio can be troublesome, because it is mismatched to typical monitors. The image may be stretched or with black stripes.
Super-sensitive high-resolution cameras with Darkfighter technology.
DIPOL offers new Hikvision IP cameras with 6 MP and 8 MP resolutions made in Darkfighter (Ultra-low-light) technology. The technology ensures better color reproduction and noise-free images in the case of poor lighting. Cameras of this type will work perfectly in environments where high image quality, large amount of detail and color images are the must. Thanks to H.265+/H.265 video compression, despite of the high resolutions the bit rates generated by the cameras are not high. With the H.265 compression, the retention time of recordings saved on a 1 TB HDD from the 8 MP camera operating at 20 fps is typically 14 days.Darkfighter technology has been implemented in EasyIP 3.0 cameras with G1 marking (e.g. DS-2CD2085G1-I K17611) and in cameras with FWD marking and resolution up to 4 MP (e.g. DS-2CD2045FWD-I K17594).
Passive optical networks (PONs) - distribution and termination boxes.
To distribute FTTH services throughout an apartment building, it is necessary to bring fiber optic cable to each subscriber. The most common method of cabling multifamily buildings is based on distribution boxes installed on individual floors in the riser ducts. Independent fiber optic cables are run from the distribution frame to the distribution boxes on the floors. Then, optical fibers are led from the distribution boxes directly to termination boxes in apartments, e.g. ULTIMODE TB-02H L5302.Distribution boxes are often installed in a confined space, so they should be small in size, easy to install and maintain. These requirements are met by ULTIMODE L5404 boxes allowing for easy organization of up to 4 fibers.
All the fibers distributed in a building go from a distribution frame usually located on the lowest floor (basement). It is the node which connects the internal network with external infrastructure. An example is the ULTIMODE TB-48B L5448 frame.

PoE over 250 meters!
ULTIPOWER 0064afat PoE switch is a desktop device enabling smooth data transmission in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet networks. Its six RJ45 ports support auto-negotiation function, four of them provide power over Ethernet (PoE function). The switch automatically detects PD devices compliant with IEEE 802.3af or IEEE 802.3at standard and provides them with power supply. This feature allows the user to expand the network coverage in areas where there is no access to AC power lines/outlets and to deploy access points, IP cameras, IP phones, etc. The total power consumption of the connected PoE devices cannot exceed 65 W.The switch has Extend mode function (activated with the switch on the front panel) that allows for providing power via UTP/FTP cable to PoE devices located within distances up to 250 meters. In this mode the PoE ports do not support Auto-negotiation function and operate at 10 Mbps (the uplink ports can still operate at 10/100 Mbps).

Hikvision IP video door phone in a one-family home. The installation has been based on Hikvision DS-KV8102-IM G73631 1-button gate/door station and two Hikvision DS-KH6310 G74038 7" touch screen monitors (indoor stations). The outdoor and indoor stations are powered from 8-port PoE switch DS-KAD606 G74812 (with 24 VDC). The switch, equipped with six PoE ports and two additional LAN ports enabling network and cascade connections, plays also the role of video/audio distributor. If the stations were powered locally, it would be possible to use a regular network switch instead.
