CommScope makes history - first wideband multimode fibers.

Golden 1 Center, the future home of the Sacramento Kings, an American basketball club from California, will be one of the most technologically advanced arenas in the world. CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, will use multimode fibers of the latest type there. The backbone network and subnetworks for wired and wireless transmission will be built on the basis of WBMMF (Wideband Multimode Fiber).

WBMMF is a new type of multimode fiber expanding the capabilities of conventional OM4 multimode fibers by transmission of multiple wavelengths. Unlike the conventional multimode fiber that supports only the transmission on a single wavelength of 850 nm or 1300 nm, WBMMF can transmit data in the wavelength range between 850 and 950 nm with a theoretical maximum throughput capacity of 200 Gbps. The use of the special transmission technique allows for a four-fold reduction in the number of fibers while maintaining a predetermined bandwidth as compared to methods based on the currently popular fibers.

Configuration of recording in iVMS-4200 client software.

iVMS 4200 is the client software for the management and control of video functions of Hikvision DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras, encoders, decoders, VCA solutions etc. The features of the software include live viewing and recording, remote browsing/searching of recordings, playback, backup, processing of alarm signals. The configuration of recording is as follows:
  • install and run iVMS-4200 and iVMS-4200 Storage Server,
  • go to Control Panel -> Device Management -> Server -> Add New Device Type and select from the list there the Storage Server,
  • enter Storage Server menu and select Add Client option (select the IP/Domain type, enter server name, user name (admin), password (12345),
  • mark the server and select Remote configuration-> Storage Server -> General,
  • in the General menu mark the partition for data storage and format it (the data on the selected partition will not be deleted, the program allocates the amount of space needed),
  • return to the main window and enter Control Panel -> Storage Schedule, select the camera to be recorded, configure the suitable Record Schedule.

To trigger video recording by motion detection or intelligent video analysis, these options have to be activated in the camera, along with marking the Notify iVMS-4200 configuration menu item. Otherwise, the information will not be passed to the client software.

HD-TVI - the maximum transmission range.

The newest TurboHD 3.0 system significantly increases the capabilities of video transmission, ca. two times compared with the 1.0 version. For example, in the typical case with RG-59 E1041 cable and 1080p image resolution, the range has increased from 500 m to 800 m. A summary of the changes is shown in the chart below.
Comparison of transmission ranges of TurboHD 1.0 and 3.0
for different kinds of cables and image resolutions
As shown, for Turbo 3.0, 720p resolution and class A RG-6 cable, the maximum transmission distance is 1200 m. This value is ca. 2.5 times higher than in the case of version 1.0.

MRS multiswitches with passive DVB-T path.

DVB-S/S2 multiswitches of TERRA MRS series are dedicated for systems built in star topology. In such systems, all outlets are connected by cables concentrated in a multiswitch or a group of multiswitches. This topology is ideal for smaller systems, installed in single-family and multifamily houses.

The MRS series has passive terrestrial TV path. The input signals from a terrestrial TV antenna should have sufficient levels. If needed, the levels can be increased by the application of an antenna preamplifier or a mast-mount amplifier, such as MA080L R82022.

Masthead antenna amplifier Terra MA080L R82022 has FM (88-108 MHz), VHFIII (174-230 MHz), and UHF (470-790 MHz) inputs. Each path has a separate gain adjustment, the UHF path has built-in LTE 800 filter.

Yagi-Uda antenna specially made for you.

The Yagi-Uda or Yagi antenna is one of the most popular antenna designs. Despite a comparatively simple construction, it has a high gain, typically greater than 10 dBi. Yagi-Uda antennas can operate in the HF to UHF bands (3 MHz to 3 GHz), but often within a limited bandwidth around the center frequency.
DIPOL designs and manufactures Yagi-Uda antennas with required gains,
for frequencies within 1.7 GHz to 3 GHz range.

The example Yagi antenna has been designed with the use of specialized software for modeling and optimizing such antennas. The aim of the project was to develop a Yagi-Uda antenna composed of the active element in the form of PCB folded dipole, thirteen directors, and a single reflector, operating in 2 GHz band. It can be noted that at the center frequency (2 GHz) the gain of the antenna is approx. 17 dBi.

EasySplicer - calibration of the position of fiber ends.

The toolkit provided together with EasySplicer L5810 contains the dedicated fiber cleaver. We recommend to use the cleaver due to the construction compatible with the holders of the splicer.
Fusion Splicer EasySplicer (with toolkit)
The fiber cleaver and stripper for 250 μm fibers are a part of the toolkit provided with the EasySplicer L5810
However, some installers may prefer to use a different cleaver, e.g. with an integrated trash can.
In such a case, the first issue is to verify the lengths of fiber sections after cleaving. The lengths have to be adjusted so that the ends are visible on the screen of the splicer (not necessarily symmetrically). Then, in the Setup menu the installer has to select FIBER POSITION. This procedure will precisely position the fiber ends for the splicing process. This position can be saved in the memory of the splicer. Since then, all identically cleft fibers will be ideally positioned before splicing.

and the view after selecting FIBER POSITION function (on the right)
The same function is also useful in the case of using the dedicated cleaver near the end of life of the blade or after its exchange.
