New record of the speed of Internet connection - 200 HD movies in one second!

BT Group, a telecommunications company in the United Kingdom, and Huawei, a Chinese company specializing in manufacturing equipment and telecommunications solutions, tested a new experimental type of broadband Internet connection. The tests were carried out under laboratory conditions on a single optical fiber between BT’s research and development facility at Adastral Park in Suffolk and BT Tower in London. The achieved transmission speed of 5.6 Tbps is more than 5 times higher than the speed of the fastest connections available in the UK market. At this speed, it would be possible to download 200 HD movies during one second!
The record speed was achieved by using "terabit superchannels" allowing to increase the spectral efficiency by compressing the gaps between channels. Importantly, the signal was transmitted in a typical single-mode fiber, which shows that such significant increase of connection speeds does not have to involve a change of the transmission medium.

Another test was carried out not in the lab conditions, but on a 737 km stretch of cable between London and Dublin. The BT company and Huawei reached transmission speed of 2 Tbps, setting a new record over such a large distance. This increases the chances of speeding up the Internet in the near future.
Scientific studies and tests carried out by large market players are very needed to keep pace with the growth in bandwidth demands. Every year we send over the network more and more information. Market research and analysis indicate that the amount of information sent will increase significantly in the next years. In 2016 the amount of the transferred data will exceed 1 Zettabyte (1,000,000,000 Terabytes). 68% of the transfer is to be the data generated by the "ordinary" users (emails, social networking, video streaming). In 2009, the mankind sent "only" 0.57 Zettabyte.

The direct extruder employed in the printers can be fed with a wide range of filaments (ABS, PLA, TPU, PET, Nylon, MoldLay, Laywood). It features easy adjustment of pressure force, which allows for extrusion even at high speeds.
Thanks to the application of trapezoidal bars, ideal for mechanisms operating at low rotational speeds, the high precision and gradualness of the movements is directly reflected in the high quality of the prints.
The Atmat Signal printer, thanks to the possibility of independent setting of all printing parameters, allow users to print objects from almost every commercially available filament with 1.75 mm diameter:
  • PLA (Polylactic acid or polylactide) is a biodegradable thermoplastic polyester. The advantage of this material is printing ability at low temperature of the the print bed, the drawbacks are comparatively lower strength and heat resistance.
  • ABS - a durable material suitable for automotive parts, building blocks etc. It is necessary to warm up the table to a temperature of 90-100 degrees Celsius.
  • TPU is a thermoplastic polyurethane, suitable for printing e.g. flexible cases for mobile phones.
  • Nylon is an extremely durable and flexible material, however requires considerable experience in printing.
  • PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is the material used for production of bottles for most commercially available beverages.
  • MoldLay behaves like a wax. Therefore, the printers are ideal for creating models with the lost-wax casting method. The printed models can then be used to create metal, plaster, resin, or silicone casts.
  • Laywood is a wood-like material.

Inteligent searching and playing back recordings in HD-TVI DVRs.

Hikvision DVRs allow users to search for recordings in many ways. In addition to the standard, continuous play, the user can play the recorded material by events (motion detection, alarm input activation, VCA), markers, and DVR logs. The most advanced option is provided by intelligent search for recordings (marked as "smart"), allowing for easy skipping of less important fragments. The intelligent playback system performs analysis of the recorded video in search for pieces that contain information on motion or VCA, and then marks them with green color on the playback progress bar.
The playback screen (within DVR menu) - the effects of the smart search function filtering fragments with motion in a particular area are marked in green
The recordings can be further analyzed and filtered by detecting:
  • line crossing,
  • intrusion in a selected area,
  • motion in other areas.
These functions do not need to be active during recording of the material. They can be switched on before playing archive recordings in order to facilitate and accelerate their analysis. In addition, the user can adjust the speed of the video playback, separately for the fragments marked by the analytical tools and the rest of the recordings.

Video monitoring of an apartment house based on Hikvision IP cameras and NVR.

The diagram of the IP CCTV system in an apartment building, based on Hikvision cameras and NVR, is shown below. The building is monitored by 18 IP cameras K1787 with 4 MP resolution, mounted around it. Each of the cameras is equipped with 4 mm lens and IR illuminator made in EXIR technology, with range up to 50 m. The layout of the megapixel cameras allows for the identification of the people around the building, including potential vandals, and for the monitoring of the parking area.
The entrances to the staircases are monitored from the inside with the use of K17366 cameras with 2 MP resolution and 4 mm lenses. Thanks to hardware WDR (wide dynamic range) the cameras provide high quality images despite the high contrasts in the monitored space. So, despite they are directed towards glass doors passing a large amount of light during the day, they can correctly reproduce both bright and dark areas of the observed scenes and thus they allow for the correct identification of people entering or leaving the building. The control of the entry and exit to the parking area belonging to the residents of the building has been automated by the application of two K17891 cameras supporting LPR function (Licence Plate Recognition). The NVR (or cameras) use the previously prepared "white" and "black" lists of allowed and prohibited license plates of cars. On this basis it is possible to control the boom barrier, limiting the access to the parking lot. The pictures of the cars and the corresponding recordings are stored on hard drives of the NVR. They can be quickly searched in the need for identification.

The video streams from the cameras are recorded by the K22353 32-channel NVR equipped with four M89305 hard drives, each with 4 TB capacity. The M3022 monitor connected to the NVR is used for live viewing of the images from the cameras and for the analysis of the recordings. After connecting the system to the Internet via the N3253 wireless router/AP and forwarding its ports, the access to the system is possible within the Wi-Fi network range or from anywhere via the Internet. The cameras are connected to the NVR via two 16-port PoE switches N29986 that also supply them with power. The connections between the system components have been made with the use of the E1408 CAT 5e UTP cable.

Distribution of high-definition signal from an HDMI source to multiple televisions.

In many TV distribution systems there is a need for video injection from a CCTV camera or other source of video signal (PC, DVD/Blu-ray player etc). The need is filled with the use of an RF modulator providing the output signal in the form of a selected TV channel. The RF modulator has one or more baseband A/V input(s) (typically SCART, RCA, and/or HDMI - depending on the type) and RF output, connected to the antenna system or similar RF distribution network based on coaxial cabling.
It should be noted that older RF modulators can provide only analog signals with SD resolution and force the users to switch the TV signal input to analog form. In the case of DVB-T modulators, the users should only select another DVB-T channel. In the DVB-T form, the signal can carry video with Full HD resolution, provided by HDMI output of any signal source and modulated e.g. by the Signal-400 R86700 one-channel DVB-T modulator.

with the use of the Signal-400 HDMI->DVB-T COFDM R86700 modulator
Signal-400 R86700 is a multipurpose digital modulator (DVB-T - COFDM) with HDMI input and USB interface, capable of processing SD, HD and Full HD signals. The output RF signal can be combined with any other TV signals. The source signal may come from a multimedia player, DVR, Blu-ray player, PC, STB etc. The modulator fully supports HDCP protocol, so it can distribute high quality content coming from any HDMI output.

Convenient and elegant installation of various equipment - RACK cabinets.

Until recently, RACK cabinets have been used mainly in large telecommunications systems and server rooms. Currently, RACK cabinets are used in majority of building installations. Small hanging RACK cabinets are also used in home systems. RACK cabinets are ideal for installing headends, switches, computers, optical devices. They can also house devices that are not in standard 19" rack housings, for example multiswitches, RF amplifiers, modulators, DVRs, NVRs.
When choosing accessories for rack cabinets, the customer should pay attention to their compatibility with the specific models of the cabinets. Some components may be dedicated to other models, e.g. with greater depth or with a different way of mounting the accessory (e.g. a fan). DIPOL e-Store offers a simple mechanism that provides a list of compatible accessories for the selected RACK cabinet. The user should simply open the site with the required RACK, e.g. R912020, and then click on the "Add accessories" button in the right section.

Hanging RACK cabinets are ideal for building and home systems.
Document confirming the compliance of the cabinet with general safety requirements contained in Chapter II of the General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC) of 3 December 2001 and in the guidelines of the EN 60950-1:2007 international standard, issued by KOMAG INSTITUTE OF MINING TECHNOLOGY

Up to 60 splices on one battery charge!

EasySplicer L5810 is designed for daily use in fiber optic installations. The handy device allows for quick and precise joining of optical fibers using electric arc. The splices are characterized by high durability and low loss. The splicing device is designed for use in all types of telecommunication installations, cable TV and CCTV systems, and is especially recommended for the installation of FTTH systems.
So far, installers using the device could do about 15 splices on one battery charge. The solution to this problem was the work with plug-in charger or, if this was impossible, with connection to an external 6 VDC battery. The newest software version, v2.76, increases the number of splices on one battery charge to 50-60 (for 40 mm sleeves), thanks to the optimization of the heat oven operation. Such a number of splices is usually sufficient even in the case of medium-sized distribution frames.

TV Optical Transmitter TERRA OT501W (SAT/DVB-T, 6dBm)
TV Optical Transmitter TERRA OT501W (SAT/DVB-T, 6dBm) A9872 is used for transmission of television signals via optical medium. It converts input satellite signals from a quatro LNB, and DTT (DVB-T) and radio (DAB and FM) signals (the terrestrial signals have to be combined by a triplexer) from a set of terrestrial antennas. The built-in WDM multiplexer transmits the two groups of signals separately, in the II transmission window (1310 nm) and III transmission window (1550 nm), which guarantees exceptional quality of the transmission.
Optical Receiver TERRA OR501W (QUATRO + DVB-T/DAB/FM)
Optical Receiver TERRA OR501W (QUATRO + DVB-T/DAB/FM) A9877 converts optical signal coming via passive optical network from the OT501W A9872 transmitter into electrical signals. These are SAT IF signals and terrestrial DVB-T, DAB and FM broadcasts. The device has 5 outputs, 4 of them providing the four pairs (VL–HL–VH–HH) of SAT IF signals (like typical QUATRO LNB) and terrestrial broadcasts. This "virtual QUATRO LNB" should be connected to a multiswitch or a group of multiswitches with a suitable number of outputs, depending on the number of subscriber outlets.

Remote monitoring of CCTV cameras via wireless bridge. In situations where the distance between a CCTV system and the location of the surveillance room or other place intended for monitoring of the video from the cameras is too long for a wired connection, the only solution is to monitor the cameras via IP network. If there is no network infrastructure suitable for that purpose, a good idea can be the installation of a wireless bridge. Such a bridge can be composed of two TP-LINK TL-WA5210G N2350 access points... >>>more
