Google gains an advantage in the Smart Home race. Google announced that Google Assistant, the artificial intelligence software embedded in Android phones, and the intelligent WiFi Google Home speaker system with built-in access to Google supports more than 5,000 smart devices. This very sharp growth (in January it was 1500 devices) shows how large resources are involved in the development of this project. Integrating the Assistant with other devices, Google creates a concept of a smart home which seems to be far more advanced than conventional solutions. Artificial intelligence significantly broadens the scope of applications and increases the potential of such a system.
Google's smart home platform is growing exponentially since its launch in autumn 2016, and covers virtually all types of devices: from cameras and security systems, through door bells, locks and lighting, to dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators. Google supports devices from all known manufacturers, and the list is still growing. Some examples can be the IKEA light system and Deutsche Telekom products, which will be supported soon.

Compared with H.264, H.265 can reduce by half the data stream, which translates into proportional savings of the disk space or into extended data retention time. Interpretation of LTE signal parameters. LTE Advanced is a further extension of the LTE standard. Owners of devices compatible with LTE-A can theoretically reach transfers up to 300 Mbps, which is possible by aggregation of several frequency bands.
Before choosing an external antenna, the user should check out parameters of the signal received by the LTE modem. Usually it can be done by running a network diagnostic panel offered by the software of the router or modem. The parameters should be compared with the values shown below.

  • RSRP (dBm) - (Reference Signal Receive Power) - measure of the signal strength.
    • more than -79 dBm - very good signal strength,
    • from -80 dBm to -90 dBm - good signal strength,
    • from -91 dBm to -100 dBm - poor signal strength.

In a situation where signal parameters indicate the need to install an external antenna, it is worth to buy, for example, TRANS-DATA LTE KPZ 6/8 MIMO A741022. Microbending and macrobending in optical fibers. The optical fiber is a very delicate transmission medium from the mechanical point of view. During the installation of fiber optic systems, the installer has to follow specific rules, in particular, should avoid excessive bending and pulling of optical cables and fibers.
Microbending can even occur during the production of fibers, why it is so important to use cables only from renowned manufacturers, which guarantee high quality products. The occurrence of this type of bends can also be a consequence of the large changes in the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure) at the installation site. Macrobending (diameters above 2 mm) is caused by improper handling of fiber optic cables during installation.
Microbending and macrobending may have a significant effect on the signal attenuation in the fiber. The attenuation can strongly depend on the wavelength of the transmitted signals. It may happen that it is critical for one wavelength and not so important for the second. WDM systems, using several transmission wavelengths, are particularly susceptible to such installation errors.
